Register Your Tigre Horse

The Tiger Horse Breed Registry, The Royal Tiger Horse Registry, and The Heavenly Tiger Horse Registry, all strive for the creation of a modern day version of a once famous breed from Siberia. As a whole, the breed registry is referred to as TIGRE – The Tiger Horse International Breed Registry, which encompasses the 3 separate registration books. We run 2 registration books side by side, with the opening of a third expected soon. The first is the probationary book where all horses will be registered until they qualify for permanent registration in either The Royal Tiger Horse book, or The Heavenly Tiger Horse book, both are permanent registries.
The Royal Tiger Horse Registry exemplifies the truly gaited horses of the Tiger Horse Breed. By contrast, The Heavenly Tiger Horse Registry will embody the more warmblood-like examples, including horses that shuffle and trot.
We understand that an extinct horse can never be revived but because genes from the ancient "Heavenly" or Tigre horses were saved by others who out crossed to local breeds, a variety of international breeds now show a relationship to those earliest horses.
We have carefully selected for a certain body type. LP horses, or appaloosa spotted horses, were crossed on solid colored gaited breeds that displayed similar look-alike body styles to each other, and the first Tiger Horse was born. First, second, third, and even fourth generation Tigers are now available for sale or breeding.
On this web site and publications around the world, our proven results for modern day Tiger Horse production, speak for themselves and we are committed to continued excellence through strict breeding practices and controls that guarantee predictable results.
TIGRE will never be a "roundup organization" that compromises standards for the sake of increased membership. Our focus will always be on the highest breeding standards and the quest for top quality sport horses that are easily recognized as TIGRE registered animals. We are dedicated to reproducing as closely as possible a horse that resembles the once famous "Heavenly Horses" of Siberia which we shall call TIGRE, aka; The Tiger Horse.
Any “original entry” horse, must show “appaloosa” type coloring, including but not limited to; white sclera, striped hooves, and mottled skin. Hair coat patterns from roans, blankets, leopard, snowcaps, and even ghosts (often called fewspots) are welcome. Foals born from Tiger Horse parentage will be eligible regardless of coat pattern. There are two types of solid colored horse in our breed. True solid horses and Ghost Horses which are largely white usually with only one or two body spots. Some Ghost Horses can be poorly pigmented and vulnerable to sunburn but they insure that spots remain within our breed. When a Ghost Horse is crossed on a solid colored horses, the most exotic coat colours can be produced.
The Probationary Registry:
Our probationary registry, The Tiger Horse Breed Registry, which was started in 1993 by acquiring and then using 3 very special color producing stallions and several refined and gaited mares, once closed it's books to outside stallions. The impending opening of the third registration book, The Heavenly Tiger Horse Registry, will again allow the breed to accept “original entry” stallions, which will be registered with The Tiger Horse Breed Registry until such time as those stallions are promoted to permanent registration.
At the time of closing the probationary files to new stallions in 2004, there were 14 stallions registered in the books. Some of them related to each other. "Original entry" or "outside" mares are also acceptable to us together with their qualified offspring, including their stud colts.
The Royal Tiger Horse Registry:
The Royal Stud Book of TIGRE International accepts only those horses that were first entered into the probationary book and which proved themselves worthy for permanent installation.
To prove themselves worthy of permanent registration in The Royal Tiger Horse Registry, an eligible stallion must first sire 5 eligible and registered Tiger Horse foals. Eligible mares must qualify by producing 3 eligible and registered Tiger Horse foals. These individuals are then accepted as Tiger Horse Royalty. The only exception to this rule is for offspring born from 2 Royalty registered parents. Offspring born from 2 Royalty registered parents automatically qualify as Royalty.
The Heavenly Tiger Horse Regsitry:
Like in The Royal Tiger Horse Registry, only those horses that were first entered into the probationary book and which proved themselves worthy for permanent installation will be accepted.
The ideal Heavenly Tiger Horse will exhibit an uphill style of movement, and either perform a true trot, or shuffle. These horses are bred to excel in such disciplines as dressage, as hunters, or jumpers. Their way of going can be compared to many warmblood breeds, by lifting the shoulders, and forward motion originating from the hindquarters.
In appearance, the horse should show a typical Iberian profile, with a naturally arched neck, bending at the second vertebrae. The withers should be moderate to high, The shoulders sloping back, and the back should be of moderate length. Often, these horses will have a low tail set, but will not be penalized for a higher tail set. Legs should be well boned, and dry, with larger hoof size then seen in the Royal Tiger Horse. Draft influence should be minimal.
To prove themselves worthy of permanent registration in The Heavenly Tiger Horse Registry, an eligible stallion must first sire 5 eligible and registered Tiger Horse foals. Eligible mares must qualify by producing 3 eligible and registered Tiger Horse foals. These individuals are then accepted as Heavenly Tiger Horses. The only exception to this rule is for offspring born from 2 Heavenly registered parents. Offspring born from 2 Heavenly registered parents automatically qualify as Royalty.
